1.國家社會漸告安定，人民生活安樂，但尚未達到天下太平的大同階段，稱為“小康”。

例證語出《禮記 · 禮運》：“如有不由此者，在執者去，眾以為殃，是謂小康。”

2.形容略有資產而足以自給的家境。

例證《儒林外史 · 第一五回》：“先生得這『銀母』，家道自此也可小康了。”
