◎我國古代東胡族的一支。原居於今遼河上遊西剌木倫河一帶，所屬分八部。唐時耶律阿保機並合各部，統有今蒙古、東北、熱河、察哈爾、綏遠及河北北部，自號為王，建國號為遼。宋時為金所滅。
